During my 16 years in the
Legislature, I have steadfastly opposed the introduction or
expansion of gambling into our state. The Baltimore Sun has
published at least two of my letters addressing Organized Gambling
in Baltimore. My opposition and rationale for concern are
available for public scrutiny and review. It is a matter of
record and not just talk.
One of the
most damaging organized gambling activities is the video lottery
terminals or better known as "slots".
Playing slots is far more
addictive and potentially more expensive than the lottery.
Slots are the "Crack" of gambling. I highly
recommend that all that have concerns read the following article.
Hey Buddy, Can
You Spare A Billion? (2003 Commentary by Curt Anderson published
in a Philadelphia newspaper)
